What is the Indigenous Yoga Collective?

The Indigenous Yoga Collective (IYC) is a grassroots initiative and community collective of Indigenous and South Asian women. The IYC has evolved from the First Nations Women’s Yoga Initiative, the doctoral research work led by Jessica Barudin, and guidance from our advisory circle.

We are committed to promoting wellness and connection to intercultural and ancestral wisdom for Indigenous people and POC. At the heart of our collective is the dedication to empowering Indigenous women + gender-diverse peoples by creating safe spaces to heal and be well.

Team & Advisory

We have a core team of Indigenous and South Asian educators and community leaders who are nurturing the growth of the IYC. All of our collaborators have been involved with the First Nations Women’s Yoga Initiative, either as a guest faculty lead, program facilitator, and/or learner.

Update

We are slowly building our capacity and curriculum for an Indigenous-led 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training. Check out the IYC Website for more information.

Stay tuned for our 2024/2025 Offerings, which will include:

  • Workshops and training offered by our community of educators

  • Retreats
